Well, took me a bit more than 4 months to get this car back on the road. Either it was too cold in the shop or I didn't have time to work on it, hence the time it took. Haha! I replaced a lot of seals, went through all the wiring, replaced the tranny, replaced the driveshaft, replaced several engine hoses, & did a few other random things to it. The car shifts like butter & drives like new. Stayed at 65 MPH most of the time. Filled up with 87 grade Mobil.

Nov 2 2012

The car is currently in the back yard shop getting the engine, tranny, & differential removed. A lot of work will be going into the car soon. It's going to take me about a month or so to get it all back together.

Stayed at 65 MPH or less. When going up steep hills, went 5 to 10 MPH past shifting points to avoid detonation. This is my best 87 grade tank yet. Filled up with 91 grade Mobil. We'll see how this one does.

Aug 21 2012

Stayed at 65 MPH most of the time. Very little pinging (detonation) under load now. Don't know if the last tank of 91 helped out with that. Need to Seafoam the engine soon. Filled up with 91 grade 76.

This was the 91 grade tank. Tried to stay at 65 MPH most of the time, but I did race the car all the way up to the redline few times & did some 80 to 90 MPH speeding. The car hardly knocked & pinged at all. I could barely hear a faint knock & ping when it was under load & going up an extreme grade when it was close to 104 degrees outside. Filled up with 87 grade Mobil. Going to test for knock & ping again.

Did some occasional 80 to 90 MPH driving, but stayed at 65 MPH most of the time. It has been hotter than a monkey's ass in SoCal. The engine pings (detonates) at times, even though it's set at 10 BTDC, so I filled it up with 91 grade 76. Not sure if it's heat soak or what. I'll see if that takes care of the pinging. If so, I'll be filling up with 91 grade during the summer months from here on.

The car has been down for a while. Had to replace the cam angle sensor & battery. I set the timing to stock (10 degrees BTDC). Also replaced the A/C relay. The 20A fuse for the A/C finally doesn't blow up. All is well. Hopefully the car will be good for a long while. The Yaris was getting boring fast! I'll see how the mileage goes in about 2 tanks from now.
