On 9/25, Brenden experienced the same problem as before, where the gas pedal didn’t correspond to increasing or maintaining speed. Took it back to Myer’s. James from Myer’s called on 9/27 and said they drove it multiple times in the morning and afternoon on 9/26. They couldn’t get the problem to replicate but did say the check engine code was for the same thing. They re-installed the old sensor and it wouldn’t work at all. They put the new sensor back on and it still had the check engine light. They found an news bulletin on the powertrain control module (PCM) that said it might need to be re-coded at the dealership. They did find one ground wire that had rusted, which might be the root cause. They said no charge, but if it happens again, take it to the dealer to get the PCM recoded. They gave us a print out to take with us to get that to happen.

As Brenden was driving back to our house from campus, the gas pedal stopped working. He’d put the pedal to the floor and the car wouldn’t accelerate. The tachometer didn’t go up and it didn’t overheat. Myer’s diagnosed it and found it was the accelerator sensor ($393.10 parts plus $54.50 labor), which they replaced. Also replaced air intake boot ($167.10 parts + $54.50 labor). Plus $119 diagnostic fee.
