$960.50 total Replaced both front wheel lower control arms (connects the suspension to the wheels) - $218.63 x2 for each control arm part - $300 for labor - $10.54 bolt and nut replaced because it was seized to control arm when removing; car smelled like burnt rubber inside and out when I picked it up, called and checked, and they said it was the burn rubber on the old seized bolt and said there shouldn’t be any problems with it; it was the right driver side front wheel that they had to torch out the bolt; update: 3/4/24 while out driving heard strange noise on passenger front wheel once while driving down road and again while pulling up into someone’s hilly driveway (sounded like single tap/pop sound - never heard it before; update: 3/6/24: sound has persisted, heard it today more than 3 times and it has happened just backing up into a parking spot; update 3/10/24: noise happens constantly at least a few times a day, usually when backing up with the wheels turned $115 Wheel alignment $29.99 shop supplies $39.74 tax $27.97 card fee

New grinding issue since new pads/rotors installed at everything automotive, tire rotation at discount tire, and driver side wheel stud fix by everything automotive after discount tire broke the stud during rotation. What is happening: sounds like coming from front driver side wheel, aggressive grinding sound (similar to a metallic low pad grinding noise on rotor), happens after brakes? Or transmission? Warms up after about 30 miles of driving around town (about 1-2 hrs of driving) New/better quality pads installed today by everything automotive on front wheels to try to address grinding issue. They already tried replacing the front pads with the same ones they put on but noise persisted. This is their last try at solving the problem. They want me to bring it to Subaru if the problem persists. Let them know if it does. UPDATE: The noise stopped until 3/20/24 (156420 miles) when the noise came back after driving about 30 miles in 1-2 hrs, the noise is a gurgling sound at the end of breaking and coming to a stop MY POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS (that everything auto has dismissed as not bing the problem: bad or dirty Vehicle speed sensor (VSS), low-end pads/rotors, brake fluid/master cylinder too full of brake fluid, caliper issue (worn, missing or broken hardware especially bolts and shims; a caliper not fully secured to its support bracket, because of lose or damaged hardware can rub on rotor and cause grinding when stopping) WHAT JAD SAYS after having it for a few days: Jad called 2/20 after having vehicle from 2/19- 2/20/24: ——separate issues he brought up due to noises he heard: regarding the rubbing sound (which didn’t start til after brake pads/rotors install..rear differential is making noise, passenger rear wheel bearing is making noise; lower control arms on both front wheels broke And putting pressure on axel and transmission?, thinks grinding could also be possibly be transmission problem;—; putting on new pads that are higher quality 2/20/24; if the vehicle still makes the noise, put in nuetral before stopping and see what it does that would take pressure off transmission and make less noise? If it was a transmission issue; When I looked up transmissions symptoms, it says the SPEED SENSOR could actually be the problem and is a possible missed diagnosis. Once again my research points to the vehicle speed sensor which is controlled by the Vehicle Dynamics Control system (VDC). There is a WSS (wheel speed sensor) which is near the wheel and another vehicle speed sensor VSS attached to the transmission WHAT I THINK: 10/2023 - REMEBER: check engine light came on BUT also along with flashing brake light, traction light, and blinking cruise control - which could be bad VSS vehicle speed sensor - something I have been saying since the start (replace this no matter what) - I think the abs fuse under the hood we pulled didn’t affect the speed sensor vss - FOUND another FUSE 33 (ABS/Vehicle dynamics control unit Power steering) fuse box located in passenger area. One thing I read is that you cannot disable the VDC by pulling fuses. Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) is a form of electronic stability control. This advanced active safety system utilizes a network of sensors to monitor wheel speed. BUT Pulling fuses like jad thought will not DISABLE THE VDC - it will still operate Possibly not the brakes heating up that is triggering it, it could be the transmission heats up to a certain point which triggers it Probably not abs kicking on, it’s probably the VDC system kicking on *IF NOT speed sensor, it could be reluctor ring (connected to vss and abs system) or abs module WHAT TO SAY to get some money back or to argue that I want this done next… Speed sensor was probably damaged when you were hammering on rotor to get it off.or more likely damaged when you fixed the wheel stud because problems started happening after that. I didn’t have any grinding in the front driver side wheel until after that Remeber in your garage when you said “I bet it is the wheel bearing; and I said, “I bet it’s the sensor”. You lost the bet, but I paid for it (the wheel bearing). You were willing to risk $570 of my dollars with your guess, I’m willing to risk $200 for my guess. Even though I think the sensors was damaged by you during the brake or more likely stud fix. But I think it would be at least fair of you to pay me the difference of the wheel bearing and speed sensor. I may have gotten a new bearing that I didn’t need, but I lost out in a lot of money in downtime for work

559.83 total plus credit card fee 576.62; replaced front driver side wheel bearing UPDATE: this didn’t fix the grinding problem on the front driver side wheel; finally able to get don to hear it while giving him a ride; and jad finally heard it(at least he says) after having my car for a few days. Front driver side wheel still grinding at the end of stopping, usual the breaks need to be warm (or the transmission) for the wheel to start to grind. Replaced FRONT pads and rotors on warranty; trying to figure out why there is grinding sound at end of braking on occasion on driver side front wheel; might be dirty ABS sensor (replacement $200) or bearing is going bad ($609ish for new bearing but should do both front if that is what is bad). Going to try new pads/rotors first, if still sound then I’m going to remove the ABS fuse under hood (see photo of location-its the dark green #30). If still sound after removing abs fuse then know for sure that it is bearing; update: 3/4/24 front brakes pads squealing after warming up ever since the new pad install but the grinding that was the problem has stopped

Front driver side brake has been grinding. Just had brake pads/rotors replaced and then the fix a broken stud on the front driver side wheel (that discount tire broke when rotating tires). There was a clip they forgot to fasten probably when fixing the stud. Mike is the mechanic that changed my pads/rotors and he was also the one to look into this grinding issue. After fixing the clip, heresy drive it and said there was a wheel rubbing noise. I also noticed the rubbing noise at first when I left there. It is a new sound. Maybe the pad and/or rotor got compromised when the clip was grinding against it

Discount tire broke off a stud when tightening lug nut after rotating tires. They submitted a claim and will be reimbursing me Discount tire claim department will be calling me within 48 hours Talked to Jad / owner; really nice and talked to him the entire time. He noticed that my Falken Wild peaks are the “trail” version which is softer and has shorter life (like probably around 40k); what I really want is the A/T3. After looking into it more, the trail tires are built for the crossovers

Free tire rotation and balance All tires are around 4 - stop in and talk to Nick later this week or next. He was off today. Everything Auto noticed that my Falken Wild peaks are the “trail” version which is softer and has shorter life (like probably around 40k) - they are better for winter and trails but not long lasting; EA (Jad/owner) runs wild peaks on everything he owns; said the A/T3 would last longer. After looking into it more, the trail tires are built for the crossovers. Note from last visit: Tires are wearing faster than they should be. 65K warranty and tires are currently at 24k. Check with Nick ( the guy who looks like Jesse). He said they could work out something with the warranty when I come back in in 6k, especially if the tires are measuring 4 could get half off new tires from manufacture Broke driver side stud while tightening lug nut (cross treaded it). They put in claim and they will be contacting me within 48 hours. Get scheduled and quote from everything automotive so I’m ready when they call. Update: had everything automotive fix broken stud for $296.79 on 1/31/24; claim # in 24103504

$1,064.01 (includes card fee) - it was quoted at $1033 *worked with Don as usual, Mike is the mechanic, Jad is the owner *they broke the pads/rotors in (which is key to longevity and the pads/rotors will always function properly if they stay below this initial heat up (from everything automotive) *wheel rubbing noise and driver side front brake has been grinding after warming up after driving around town for 30ish miles, the grinding is in the final 10-20ft of stopping Last pads: installed 2/23/20-4/13/20-5/27/20 (95k-98k) - pads were installed at Dave’s Automotive (no longer in service (ever since pads were installed by dave’s the brakes squeaked when braking in reverse (especially the first drive of day) and this never went away over the live of the pads/rotors; Dave was very generous in replacing front and rear pads/rotors multiple times under warranty over a few month period; UPDATE on these old pads: replaced today: 2024.01.29 - 151,405 miles; last Pads/rotors lasted until today and almost 55,000 miles; started grinding tofay and had new pads/rotors installed at everything automotive (they also broke in the pads/rotors)

$111.76 total oil change - ? fees - ? labor - ? parts - ? supplies - ? haz materials - ? tax $?? Total front day running light (passenger?) - tightened lug nuts after having tires rotated recently - checking to see if heat shield can be clamped again for rattle ($4 in past) - check engine light came on (and brake, traction, cruise lights which is common when check engine light comes one); nothing seems wrong with driving; Subaru won’t check it without a service appt UPdATE: checked at advanced auto for free and it was related to camshaft timing probably due to low oil, reset codes and waiting to see if comes back on (see detailed notes under separate service record) - won’t check brake pads unless they have tires off like during a tire rotation ISSUES: - front marker lights burnt out but didn’t have them replace for $20+ each - front day running light out and having them replace for $22 - cabin air filter needs changing (bought new one)

Steady Check engine light came on, along with flashing brake light, traction light, and blinking cruise control. Stopped at Miller Hill Subaru for over due oil change and to check the check engine light but they won’t check it in the quick service dept. going to stop at Advanced Auto for free diagnosis. Subaru said when check engine light comes on, it will turn on other lights and disable some features. Camshaft issue is also the oil leak that has been happening since I’ve owned vehicle and since Miller Hill Subaru tried to fix the leak in 9/2017. The check engine errors could have been caused by low oil making camshaft timing off. Had advanced auto reset the codes. Going to see if the check engine light comes back on ERROR CODES: P000C - Camshaft position slow response (bank 1) P0021 - Intake camshaft position timing - over - advanced (bank2)

Inspection: - low beam passenger front head beam, they finally noticed that there is a metallic pice hanging down in the low beam area which is noticible when you shine a flash light into the beam and compare to the driver side one. Says they can’t do anything about it and that it would need a brand new head light housing - oil is a quart too full and that is worse than being too low. I added 2qts on 4/14 after the oil light came on and checked the level and it was at the lowest possible measurement - adding on new front 100k miller hill Subaru lisense plate frame because the kwik trip car was on grand ripped it off - tightening lug nuts to 100 lbs of torque because had wheels off last week to check brakes

$34.84 = minimum inspection cost of $29 plus tax Grinding and burning smell from front driver side brake. Drove to Miller Hill Subaru a couple days later and the said they don’t see anything wrong. Could be that a rock got lodged in between pad and rotor. Ceramic Pads at 4-5 which is about 40-50%. Replace around 2. New around 9-10. Used up about 1/2 their life in 30k. Probably have another 15,000 as a guess. Pad/Rotor UPDATE: 2024.01.29 - 151,405 miles; Pads/rotors lasted until today and almost 55,000 miles; the squealing never stopped but only really happened when backing up; started grinding this day and had new pads/rotors installed at everything automotive (they also broke in the pads/rotors) Subaru Quote for new pads and rotors - $1080 = $540 for front and $540 for rear *subaru’s quote was close to Everything Automotive; Dave’s towing and Auto is now owned by SK Auto (same as taxi company) Mentioned cam shaft oil leak again. Said it is still leaking. They “fixed” in 2017 but it was never truly fixed. They have mentioned it every year since during oil changes. Loses about a quart every 5k miles

Total: Brake pads at 40-50% remaining Also told be that 60 Rideshare drivers got inspections last year Brake fluid flush and check brake pads (called and asked for quote and he said, I don’t know… $250? And I said last time you charged me $63 back in 2020. And he said, oh yeah, sorry about that, I haven’t had anyone come in and request this since I’ve been here) * SIGNS YOU NEED TO CHANGE YOUR BRAKE FLUID: If your ABS light comes on, if you hear weird sounds from your brakes, if your brake pedal is stiffer or softer than normal, you should get your brakes looked at. Overall, every 2-3 times you change your brake pads, which is normally only every 2-3 years, you might need to change your brake fluid, but not every time. Look out for unusual sounds and note how your car behaves to see if you need a fluid flush sooner.
