Audi A2 SE 1.4 TDi OpenSky, manual-6 (0.588 6th). 3 cylinders (basically the standard VAG group 1.9PD TDi engine but only 3 pots instead of 4).
The unmodified vehicle averaged around 72mpg.
The modifications below improved average mpg from 72 to 75.
* Mild aero mods: FSI winglets on front wheelarches, & exhaust tunnel cover, from tank 6 onwards. CD perhaps now 0.27?
* Remapped to 103hp (from 79), tank 6.
* Skipton Cruise Control installed (from Tank 22)
* ScanGaugeII installed (from tank 22)
The modifications below improved average (non-winter) mpg from 75 to 77.1.
* 175/65R15 alloys & 5 LRR tyres (replacing the original 185/50R16). 2.7% increase in circumference (tank 34 onwards).
* Aerodynamic wiper blades to replace the old-style blades (tank 34 onwards).
* Binding brakes fixed (tank 34 onwards)
The gearbox modification below appears to have added around +12% to the mpg (77.1 to 86ish), This figure should be more reliable after a few more tanks have been driven.

Despite all the mods above :-), I would say that in general mods aren't cost-effective, unless you do mega-miles each year. Keep your motorway speed down, & avoid short journeys.
