commuter's profile
I work 37.5 miles away from home and used to commute by motorbike as much as possible.Fuel price increases seem disproportionate to income which necessitates my need to find cheaper transport. Journey time to work with public transport is calculated at 210 minutes (provided that all carriers run on schedule) and involves walking 1.5 miles, 2 bus journeys and 2 train journeys and costs an astronomic amount of cash.Of course , the probability of travelling on 4 diferent routes of public transport which are all on time every day is very remote and so a more realistic average public transport travel time for the 37.5 miles is closer to 4 hours which means that it is probably quicker ( but very much more dangerous) to go by pushbike! Journey time using my own transport is 45 minutes. I believe that public transport only works for those who live very close to a direct route to work. Living closer to my workplace isnt an option since we now live where we prefer to but there arent many opportunties to secure work in this area. I have recently had to curtail motorcycling due to a short sighted young lady who neglected to wear her glasses. I therefore need to drive a car at all times since the bike is trashed and I have no wish to gamble my life against another incompetant cager!
