I drive all of my vehicles hard. I see less than a 6% difference in mileage when taking extra care to save fuel compared to "flooring it". I have decided it's not worth the extra effort/money to "baby" the gas pedal, and for this reason, I always accelerate quickly. For all of you that have decided to pull away from stoplights at a snail's pace, GET OUT OF MY WAY! I HAVE STUFF TO DO! You won't save much gas anyways:-)
Here's an example of my typical commute: 5 days x 60 miles = 300 x 52 = 15600 miles/year Tortoise MPG: 28.5 = 547.37 gal used per year Hare MPG: 26.9 = 579.93 gal used per year
So the difference is 32.56 gal per year. This comes to only $130.24 per year (at $4 gal). So quit wasting time and drive!
