Shell 93. 340/437=78% highway. Warmer weather and higher tire pressure, so FE should have gone up, but we had a lot of rain lately, which reduces FE alot. Biggest variable is how much fuel I put in the tank; different pump(same station) from last time, and the car was facing 180 degrees from last time-on a slight incline, it affects how much fuel the tank holds. It makes it hard to assess the effect of small changes like tire pressure, driving style and weather.

Shell 93. 320/442 = 76% highway. Much more highway miles this tank, so it makes sense that the mileage went up a bit. At the same time I did this fill-up, I raised the tire pressure to 40 PSI all around.....very curious to see if this makes a significant difference. They were at 36 or so prior to this. I did NOT manage to change the oil yet, so I will do it at the next fill-up, around 3,000 miles.

Shell 87. About 56% highway. Nothing too out of the ordinary here. Slightly up from last tank, but nothing significant. I'd REALLY like to get my lifetime average up over 40, but at this rate it's going to take quite a while. :) Perhaps with warmer weather coming, I can do so by summer. After my current tank, the car will have about 2,500 miles on it and should be getting close to broken in. I will start experimenting with higher tire pressures and see how much that helps.

Shell 87. This tank is right in line with the average from the previous two, or perhaps a tiny bit better, but I don't think the difference is statistically significant, only 1.1%. What's interesting is that this tank was 40% highway and 60% city, yet fuel economy was virtually identical. I think as the car gets more miles on it, FE is going up. I can't think of any other reason this tank wasn't lower than the last one.

Shell 91. OK, continuing on from the last fill, this tank has a very high MPG, 42.8! Using the totals from the last two tanks (812.4 miles, 20.208 gallons), the average MPG is 40.2, which is almost exactly in the middle. This tank was 60% highway and 40% in town.

Shell 87; Gas station was having problems with the pumps. They would only pump VERY slow. It took 35 minutes to fill my tank. As a result, I think I put in more gas than I normally would have had the atuo-shutoff worked normally. This effectively understates true MPG. The next fill-up will correct this error and the two-tank average will be more accurate.
