Please note that I have been using a few of the hypermiling techniques to get the mpgs I'm getting. I often pop the trans into neutral and coast, sometimes for over a mile before I get to the light or stop sign. Idleing in neutral is like sitting still but still moving quite well. I am still approaching stops at 30mph, so I have to improve my distance perception of how far I can coast from 50 to 65 mph to a stop. Sometimes it is not safe to do this so keep an eye in the mirror and don't hold up traffic too much. I also have learned to make the trans shift at 2000rpm for 1st and 2nd, and 1600rpm for 3rd and 4th and about 1800rpm for overdrive, by accelerating slowly and letting up on the throttle at these respective shift points. Also, I have set my cold tire pressures to 36psi. I have kept track of my mpg since this car was new, I just didn't log it in a book. My average mpg was 21-22.5 till I started using the above techniques. It's very hard to do when you have 250hp that is so willing to get up and go with so little effort, but it is possible with patience and persistance. You must do it for the whole distance from fillup to fillup.
