First tankful used since carb cleaning/idle air screw reset/carb balancing, and I get the best fuel mileage in the 3 years I've had the bike. Proof there was something wrong with the carbs.

May 22

$21.04. Cleaned carbs and set idle air screws all to 2 turns out, then balanced carbs. Replaced crossover pipe. Started adding TC-W3 2-stroke oil to gas - 2 oz per 5 gallons. Runs much smoother and starts much better, better response and torque 2000-5000 rpm.

March 22

First fuel-up of the season. Conservative riding due to salt residue still on the roads. Needs carb tune-up and valve adjustment soon. Price of fuel is getting ridiculous, I'm seeing a lot of bikes on the road already.

#4 carb float stuck while parked, drained tank into cylinder, crankcase, and all over the ground. Cleaned carburetors, changed oil, and added in-line fuel filter. That's what I get for leaving the petcock set on "prime."

First ride after winter storage. Rebuilt forks, adjusted valves, rebuilt left front caliper, synchronized carburetors (which used a bit of gas. Hit 30,000 miles this tank.
