Yup. I have each of my three cars Fuelly feeds plugged into twitterfeed. You can even customize each one so they say something different for each car. Mine will say "Filled up T-Rex" or "Filled up the Miata" and then follow that with all the stats.

Synthetic motor oils and MPG

I've always been a fan of synthetic oil. I can be fairly lazy and I like having longer between oil changes. However, when I bought a 2009 Subura WRX last week, they said that I shouldn't run synthetic in it for the first 10,000 miles and even then I should ask the dealer for their recommendation before I put it in the car.

The owners manual said that synthetic is just fine for the car, but that I should still change it every 3,750 miles (same recommended timing for regular oil on this car.)

I'm still within my break-in period for the car, and it's never a good idea to switch to synthetic until the engine is fully broken in. However, once I get to my first oil change at 3,000 miles, I'm not sure what's going into the car.

Facebook Connect

Oh, probably so. But if anybody wants to do this NOW, there is a way. Also, Twitter makes a wonderful front-end to Facebook. Although, I did find my iPhone to be the killer hardware for Twitter. I would have never started using Twitter, or found it at all useful, without my iPhone.

I have each new fuel up show up as my Facebook status. I have my Fuelly rss feed post to Twitter via twitterfeed.com. Then in Facebook I have the Twitter Facebook application that posts each of my tweets as my Facebook status. The result is that I already have this feature, just not through Facebook Connect.

Gas Prices down along with Mileage?

What viscosity oil do you have in your car? If you're in that cold of a climate, it might be that your oil is too thick, especially before it warms up. This would cause your engine to use more gas just to move the pistons up and down, robbing you of power and reducing your fuel efficiency. Most motor oil will work at protecting the engine in both the summer and winter, but that doesn't mean it works equally well in both seasons.

You might want to check your owners manual for the factory recommendations in your current climate conditions. If you're currently running a 10W-40 or so, you might want to consider going to a 5W-30 or even lower. But as I said, check your owners manual to see what it recommends.

Fuelly for Maintenance?

I just want to be another voice that would like to see this feature added to Fuelly. Fuel efficiency is nice, but total cost of ownership seems a bit more important in the long run. Tracking this added piece of data would also be helpful so we could see how oil changes and tune ups affect our mileage.

What I would really like to see is some type of call out on my recent fuel-ups graph that shows when I've done maintenance to my car. I'm imagining something similar to how Google Finance shows news on a stock's market graph.

The advantage of this would be to easily explain why we might see a mileage bump in our driving.

Gallons per 100 miles

Thanks for the quick reply. I do hope you can add this as an option at some point in the future.
