Another A/C Issue

hello all. happy independence day to those in the states.

it seems summer time brings an increase in frequency of a/c issues. well mine is related to a/c, but not directly i think...

getting an intermitant stumbling under acceleration w/ the air on. i do not recognize it w/ air off.

anyway, it has not stalled as of yet, but it acts like it could. also when shifting(5 speed), it is resisting rpm drop for acceleration.

could this be an a/c idle-up valve issue?

ok i took out what looks like the a/c idle-up valve to get the part # since a search yielded nothing. the part # also yields nada.

no site will take the description or #. help!...

That sounds very similar to an issue I had years ago on the Buick... I had a cylinder with low compression, but I only noticed it with the a/c on...

i put a lubricant in the inlet and outlet, let it sit, then dry and reinstall. thought it worked at first, but alas it still does it.

when it does it, if i quickly turn the air off, the hesitation subsides.

guess i'll go to napa tomorrow to see if there's something in their book on it. if not, it's off to the dealer !

update:

found a dealer part dept open today. it is a dealer only part, and it is called, in toyota terminology, a vacuum control valve.

so, i may have to order one thru a dealer or go to a salvage yard.

update:

depending on which dealer i called, the part "doesn't exist." so, apparently, i just imagined taking it off and cleaning it.

well, even when a parts advisor does understand that the part exists, i'm told it has to be ordered. no air in 95* + ...so off to the salvage yard i went.

found it, paid $10. hope it works. dealer price new is $83+tax i believe.

Sorry I don't know which car you mean, but every car for the past 15 years or more just opens the IAC motor a bit further when the A/C comes on. I haven't seen a solenoid for a long time...
