have you tried seafoaming the engine?? i did it to my old B18C1 and it dramatically helped! performance wise as well as consumption!

Yes, ill try a catch can or a filter for the PCV to eliminate that. Although when i accelerate hard i think its a mix of oil and rich mixture smoke.

I will also drop the oil pan and check the screen. It was blowing big puffs today pretty bad which was a little different then usual, but was less pronounced when fully warmed.

I also seafoamed it about a week and a half ago as described on the can, through the brake vacume, in the crank case and in the fuel.

Ill have to look in the salvage yard for injectors they are around $80 each and i have two. They are easy to change though.

You guys are giving me some great ideas, i cant wait for the weekend to start doing it all!!

I have to say it - I got my Focus for MPG. Repairs due to Ford/Getrag's poor pressure plate design necessitated repairs that cost me more than I'd have saved in gas costs in 5 years. Being that my pocketbook was the prime motivator for MPG's, it's the last time I buy a car just to save on gas.

I built my Mustang from the ground up, I know every nut and bolt in the thing. The one thing that the Focus taught me is that knowing the car, its problems and its strengths > MPG's.

That's what I love about Marvin the minivan there, I know it inside out, had my grubby paws into every major assembly, patched it and fixed it enough times that half of it's newer than what some of my neighbours are still making $300 payments on... know all "her" little ways, what she will do and won't do. Then the Escort I got kinda bit me in the *** on a few things, but tearing into that now and figure I'll be up to speed on that eventually.

you can also check for oil burning on decel. This is an indicator of bad valve stem seals, which would explain your good compression numbers, and still burning oil.

Yes if i rev it then let it decel and then step on the gas i get a large puff of smoke.

jcp123 I understand that, thats why i got a Honda. Because a lot of kids are hot rodding them, so stock parts are readily available very cheap. Even if i cant solve the smoke problem, a used engine is less then $100 away and a weekend to swap it out. I dont mind working on the car, i enjoy it, and most repair cost is from labor which i do myself. I was paying $150 a month in gas before i got the car now i spend $70 with it not running its best. I got the car for $200. I think ill do OK.

OK, i think i fixed part of it. The timing belt was off by a notch. I fixed that so now i have my low end power back so it should be easier to get up hills. This should help my mpg.

Still working on the smoke.

Picked up new valve stem seals today, i will install them tomorrow. I spoke to a Honda tech who said that sometimes the oil rings stick to the ring grove which can be causing the smoke. So ill do the seals because they are cheap and if it still smokes ill run some engine flush, Lubro Moly, which is supposed to help free stuck rings. If that doesnt work, ill have to locate another engine because in the case of this Honda D15B2 engine, its cheaper then rebuilding it. At least my mileage is back up to over 35mpg.

Did the valve stem seals and I'm still blowing smoke. Im pulling my hair out because now i question my self if i missed a piece of an old seal or something.

But i made 38. mph on my last tank so i guess ill deal with it..
