D15z1 swap

Question for all those who have done a D15Z1 swap.Do you use the Z1 exhaust man. with cat. or the old man. from old engine? I have a 91 civic lx with the Z1 and 91 hf tranny. Engine rpm @ 60mph is 1950, and I have only been able to get 50mpg. Would the Z1 man. and cat. help get more mpg? O2 sensor would be closer to exhaust ports. Anyone?

My guess would be that yes, you should get the HF/VX/HX manifold and a cat that fits it. Honda designed it this way for a reason. Dan (krousdb) can point you to a site where you can get a pretty good deal on a replacement (brand new) cat that will fit the HF/VX/HX manifold.

Hey, get the correct exhaust set up. However, your mileage isn't unheard of on the bad scale. Your car is a lot heavier and less aero dynamic than the VX. Not to mention driving is a complete unknown.

you'll need the exhaust manifold, the cat, and the downpipe. It will fit perfectly with your existing exhaust.

BTW, 50mpg with that setup is EXACTLY what I was shooting for with my 89 LX with z1 swap. Part of me wants to continue with the project, while the rest of me wants to just get rid of it.

on the z1 engine, the o2 sensor, and cat are alot closer to the head then their more powerful counter parts, and I'm not sure what inside diamitor they are, but being closer like that they are going to heat up faster, and start working as they were designed faster so you are going to get acurite o2 sensore readings sooner, and lower emitions.
