fan coming on after 195f thermostat installed

just put in a 195f thermostat into my 91 civic hatch, and a hai that bypasses the cool air intake that goes down to the bumper.
took it for a spin. After, I parked it with the engine on, and the fan was on, and remained on for several minutes.
I had already put in a grill block last week with a 3x5" hole, and had not before noticed the fan coming on when the car was running at a standstill. The temp guage hasn't budged above its normal (1/2 way between 1/3 and 1/2 on the gauge), and the engine doesn't feel hot, so i don't get it.
maybe i will run the car without the hai, so i can see whether the rad is just getting too hot.

yeah, it was, but does the 195f automatically bring the fan on more? i thought it kept it from coming on.
