Manual Trans is stuck!!!

Im pulling the manual tranny and am at the point where it should just slide off but it is stuck i double checked that all bolts were out and they are i can open the seam between the block and tranny just a little but cannot seem to pull it off.

Does the transmision have to be in nuetral for it to come off

ok i got some good news and some bad news

good news is i got the trans off there was a hidden bolt under the starter i didnt see

the bad news is that before i realized there was an extra bolt i took a mini sledge to it and cracked the part of the trans that the shifting linkage connects

So first im gonna try to weld it or something and if taht doesnt work its time for a tranny

what do people usually swap their transmissions for? what will work for the vx without changing the stock clutch?

oh and im still in highschool and this is my only car so i want it running asap walkin sucks

I'm pretty sure anything other than a VX trans will reduce your FE.

I did that once. someone other than me had the bright idea of tow-strapping the trans to a riding lawnmower and long story short, pulled the car off the jackstands. except we didn't break anything.

generally, unless it's suspension rusted together for 20 years, you don't need a hammer. oh and you almost never need a hammer on the engine or trans.

If just the case is damaged, you could get a manual trans from some other '92-95 Civic and drop in the VX gear stacks and differential (really just the ring gear).

Don't feel too bad about it. You're not the only one who has done that...I've destroyed plenty of things the same way.

It should bolt up to the block. I'm not sure about the mounts though - you may need to use some of the EK mount parts.
