EG is an improper chassis code reference for the 92-95 Honda civics, and the EK is another "JDM" reference to the 96-00 Civics.

Thank the "JDM" fanboys for starting that whole ball of wax. I still prefer to say 5th generation and 6th generation for a reference.

A quick Google search found this site and some extra information on the specifics of the EG / EK codes:

it's just a generation reference. slightly less impersonal than 5th gen, 6th gen, etc. Not JDM just more technical. technical is knowing what you're talkign about. rice is making your car look fast without it being fast.

We can also thank the 'JDM fanboys' for 1988-1991 Civics being called EFs. This is REALLY, REALLY, REALLY stupid because you will NEVER find a USDM Civic that is an EF. ALL USDM Civics are actually EDs.

Most 88-91 stateside hatchbacks are ED6's.

Most 92-95 stateside hatchbacks are EH2's.

Most 96-99 stateside hatchbacks are EJ1's.

This is what my experience has been so far.

Well... That kinda depends on your definition of a hatchback.

'88-91 USDM CRXs are ED8 (HF/DX) or ED9 (Si)
