Possible blockage in transmission oil circulation?

My wife's Isuzu SUV sprung a leak at a badly rotted hardline coming out of the automatic transmission. I could see it percolating through the rot. I repaired it.

Now it sprung a leak halfway between the transmission and the radiator.

Is it a coincidence, or could there be a blockage and I'm sticking my fingers in the dike waiting for a new leak to spring at the next weak spot? If I replace the entire line can I expect the radiator or transmission to break open next?

I'm afraid to just repair it now.

when you say "percolating", we can ascertain that to be the "hot" line. i don't see why you'd have a blockage, but you could cut the return line to be sure i suppose.

if, you've got multiple leaks, you likely should replace the lines. those lines are not high pressure, so i doubt any leaks in the radiator or tranny would result.

I don't know how to tell if it's the hot or the return...I said percolating because it was coming through the line as if the line was a filter - not just leaking out one spot, but sweating out of a whole area.

It doesn't look like there's anything for me to do other than just replace the line so I'll probably just go ahead and do it.

best of luck. i'm not certain you can get them(new) stock (bent into place). you may have some fabrication work in your future.

I am neither equipped nor trained for bending hardline.

I may just bring it to a shop. I'll check with Isuzu dealers and see if I can get a pre-bent line...

Bending hard line isn't that tough with one of these.

You could get a cheap piece of brake line to practice with until you get the hang of it.

Edit- the cooler line would need to be 3/8 inch or less for one of these to work.

Re: Possible blockage in transmission oil circulation?

I had an issue with two of my transmission lines like that. the line was just wet with the stuff, not really a leak but just wet.

my line was about half rubbery flexible and the other was rigid. I ended up getting it at napa (or similar) and it was already in the form it needed to be in.

I just chocked it up to age as this was less than a year ago making them in the neighborhood of 13 years old.

you may be good just changing it out. check the napa site out to see if you can find something similar to what you need. I always chose their purchase online option and it gives me an idea of the price I will pay. so far, the local price has been cheaper on everything I have bought there.

****edit****

for reference, here are what mine looked like. I did a search for transmission oil cooler line.

Check with NAPA. They should have the exact (pre-formed) line. NAPA is usually pretty good around here anyway.

No luck. I'm pretty sure I checked already but I just checked again.

I think the 2000 Isuzu Rodeo is not common enough for a part like that to be available.

Re: Possible blockage in transmission oil circulation?

Why not just buy some heavy duty silicone tubing, and a pack of zip ties? It will probably outlast the truck.
