For all you diesel luv3rs.

t3h sw1rlz and t3h d33su1s! About half way through, they show how the swirl valve on the secondary intake track is used at low load for efficiency (probably), but at high load is opened up for optimum power. Very neat vid!

Impressive video. But only 5.4L/100km?

edit: Uh, I just realized that's 4 years old already.

I still want one!

I'd still trade the K24 from the TSX for the i-CDTi in an instant -- it should bolt directly into place, right?

We'll talk engine-control/ECU/sensor stuff later...

Seriously, if they put this in a Honda product (other than the CR-V or other non-small, un-carlike vehicle) in the U.S., sign me up. I'm afraid that they're going more for the torque in a small SUV. We need 40+ MPG CITY, so that means a small footprint. Who knows. Maybe the lower emissions will make up for a sub-40 vehicle. As it stands, it probably isn't too far off from the 2007 EPA Diesel Emission Standards -- so I guess it'll be here for the 2009 MY.

If it's available in the Euro-Accord (US-TSX), then maybe that's where we'll see it: in an Acura TSX for a premium price. It would be a good fit for the CR-V and perhaps the US Accord, but in a vehicle like the Civic, FE would be awesome. I guess we just have to stay tuned.
