looking at buying a diesel

I'm gonna look at buying a 1984 mercedes 300 cd. It has been sitting for 1-1/2 years and now it has a knock buy the firewall. I'm thinking injector knock. And the battery is dead. I'm looking at a wvo conversion. Is it worth fixing? He only wants $700.00

Don't know what causes "injector knock", but if you are wrenching it yourself and it has a fairly sound body and decent compression I don't know why it wouldn't be worth fixing. Good luck on the WVO. I've been wanting to do it for years, but I haven't been able to line up funds with available vehicles yet. Really want a TDi Jetta Wagon.
