They seem to be targeting diesel pusher RV owners more than truck drivers, and that's probably a wise decision...that seems like it should be a great market for them.

So, is there a standard like OBDII for that stuff? There must be, for them to be able to make that.

I remember it being said here that >1/2 ton diesel trucks/vans may not use OBDII also. This might be an option if that is the case.

I wonder how much it is going to cost. The one I have in my car has helped me save hella money. If this could help me get the fuel mileage bonus on a more consistent basis it will be well worth it. I don't own my rig, but the mileage fuel mileage bonus is in the $100's every month it I get it.

I think more truckers would be interested in this then most people think. Both Company drivers and Owner operators keep an eye on fuel usage way more then the average car/light truck driver. Fuel prices on diesel are insane!!! For big rigs, we have to pay twice the amount in taxes on our diesel compared to a light truck or car the burns diesel.

In case anyone is wondering, even though big rigs get crappy mileage, they are very efficient for their size and weight. My truck and trailer weigh 32-33k lbs empty and will get 7 mpg, fully loaded at 80k lbs and climbing crazy long hills it will go as low as 5 mpg. Crossing the country with a medium weight load in mixed driving will yield around 6-6.5 mpg.

over a certain weight (different from CDL stuff) and usage falls into a different emissions tier according to the EPA. there's regular consumer cars/trucks, on-road commercial trucks, off road equipment, marine, etc. something like 5 or 6 tiers total. each has it's own real world emissions requirements as well as diagnostics ability. (new) on-road commercial trucks are going to have the same (or better) electronics as cars in the next year or two. not necessarily the same standards for communication (IE you might or might not be able to plug a generic OBD2 scanner in) but the same capabilities.
