I remember The RoadWarrior..To understand who he was, you have to go back to another time..the world was powered by the black fuel & the desert sprouted great cities..Gone now, swept away..two mighty warrior tribes went to war & touched off a blaze which engulfed them all. Its a cool car, and if you're driving it the last thing on your mind is the mileage. With the swept back pontoon fenders it may actually be more aerodynamic than you would think. Its not a box on wheels like 80's model cars. All the edges are gracefully swept back. Very similar to the Buick BlackHawk concept car I wish Buick would make.

it looks a bit overdone but there's similar more subtle examples from the era.... i wonder is designing a modern car by building up the volume from low drag drop shapes would yield a good overall design.
i know in aerodynamics the total drag can be greater than the sum of all the components, but imho it's better than starting with a box and rounding off the edges

Aha, nice pix, yes you'll notice that the lift has a component acting backwards from the direction of travel, induced or shape drag.

Wow....that is truely car porn......absolutely beautiful....and she has aerodynamics too.
I'll bet it weighs a lot, but I'll also bet it would compare very favorably with the the aerodynamics of current cars.

I agree. If that design was made with modern materials, powertrain, and manufacturing methods it would probably be a lot lighter, and more fuel efficient. If made now it probably wouldn't be too bad. I especially like the front & rear blocked wheelwells. It almost looks like the car is floating.

There's a challenge for somebody: build a carbonfiber/fiberglass kitcar version of that, and stick a D15Z1 into it. 
As noted above, be careful, it could take off!
