air dam and vortec generators

Hi all, I just finished my air dam and installing the VG's . I am going to start testing on my new tank of gas. My present mileage has gone up to 826km to 31.5 L. that tank I was perfecting the mild pulse and glide and about 4% gain. The VG's are along the top off the roof and along the bottom of the car's diffuser. So far I have seen some improvement in mileage.Still testing....

I built the double VGs here http://www.gassavers.org/showthread.php?t=1482. They look like sharks teeth. My kids point and laugh as well as other people but I point and laugh at then at the pump. From the grill block, double VGs, and P&G I'm reaping aprox 25% increase in mileage. From 31MPG to 39.8MPG in mixed highway and city driving. I say it's worth the laughs.

laughs are okay; I just hate it when an explanation is ask for by someone without the willingness nor mental skills to understand it.
While I do ( or at least think I do) understand the concept, I'm not sure that particular design of generator would help my Cavalier; maybe different on wagons, hatchbacks and trucks.

To the contrary, I always thought that VGs could most easily benefit the typical 'threebox' sedans over any other body style.

Why don't you think they'll work on your car?

The way they are shaped makes me think they would act like little parachutes. Also I just would expect something with a pointed end with the air flowing around and along the surface of it rather than into it like a funnel.

Aside from the design; where would I put them on my Cavalier for best results?

Sure, VGs will create some drag. But, in theory, they'll also help alleviate a larger area of drag/low pressure behind the car by simulating laminar flow.

Actually, I was checking out your ride in the garage earlier.
You'd place in the same area as the Lancer EVO...on the back of the roof, a few inches from the upper line of the rear window glass. Like this:

Those in the lancer pic look more like I would expect and don't seem to have the funnel effect.
I may read a little more on this and make my own. Can't hurt to try. Be easy to test with a small fan and a little smoke to see how they affect the airflow.
