Lots of trucks around here have the chrome flame inserts in the grilles. I don't like that look. I'm seriously thinking about using the side of a black trashcan. Its cheap, and I think I can make it look good. Plus I can write off a trashcan as a business expense...
I'm thinking a can like this one: http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/items/5W001

Cut the top and bottom off, slit the side and use a heat gun to coax the corners flat.

Cost under $10

Well, the world is making it difficult for me to establish if these hypermiling and modification efforts are working on the Beast... 2 weeks ago (last tank) I sat for well over an hour in traffic backups. Now yesterday I wasn't paying attention and let my GPS route me straight through downtown Reston durring the leading edge of rush hour traffic. Then once I got through that I got stuck in road construction for ~ 30 - 40 minutes. I burned nearly 1/4 tank of fuel yesterday on a 20 mile round trip that should have only used 2 gallons at the most. I feel like just filling today and cutting my losses on this tank...
