My Dad had a letter yesterday from Skoda regarding the software issue, he has the user popular 2.0 TDI unit. Think he's going to rectify it on the service due in June.

Thanks for the post! I have a 2015 Audi Q5, one of the repairable units, so I get to keep my beloved diesel!

Just some notes according to my understanding:
  • This is just a proposal. The courts still need to approve it.
  • This applies to the United States only. I'm in Canada. Historically, we've followed the example Big Brother to the south sets (I got $1500 in cash and goodies from Audi when the scandal broke, similar to the US), but it's anybody's guess if this will continue in Canada.
  • VW still does not have an EPA/CARB-approved fix. That has yet to be devised and approved by authorities.
  • Allegations are flying that The Leader in the US is planning to dismantle the EPA in short order. If this comes to pass, there's no telling how it'll affect this.
  • It's a crapshoot as to when affected owners will start seeing cash from this settlement.
These are the unknowns at this time. For the (Fuelly) record, I don't feel entitled to the proposed cash, I don't feel I've earned it or I deserve it... but I will surely and gladly welcome it if/when it arrives, and I might even get *****y if it's not forthcoming ;-)

Doesn't matter if you feel entitled to the settlement or not. VW knowingly sold the car with fraudulent emission certifications. Like cash hand outs for erroneous MPG values on the sticker, just because you can beat those numbers doesn't change the fact that they are wrong.
