GM: Petrol is Dead

Petrol and Diesel Are Dead, Says General Motors. True new corporate strategy or PR stunt? You be the judge.

Excerpt:
Quote:
General Motors is determined to ?remove the car from the environment and energy debate? in the next 10 years by doing away with the internal combustion engine altogether.

The world?s second largest car company now views hydrogen fuel cell power as the ?the end game,? according to its director of advanced technology vehicle concepts Dr Christopher Borroni-Bird. Using internal combustion engines is no longer an option, and that includes diesels and hybrids.

?Hybrids are not a solution,? he said. ?They just delay the day of reckoning. The debate about hybrids being cleaner than diesel is irrelevant - the diesel is a dead end because it uses fossil fuels.?

Goodness...this is very sad. Hydrogen is crap, it is just an inefficient method of storing energy...

at GM...however, if they think they will replace the ICE with hydrogen in ten years, they'll be out of business very soon.

Well, they currently seem to be hedging between LiIon batteries and fuel cells.

There also is growing evidence that this theory is shared by dinosaurs.

Hydrogen? It's been proven consistently to be utterly useless. It doesn't even run in cold weather! GM is dead. Petrol will take a little longer.

And in the mean time, they have to make more gas guzzlers and fight CAFE standards. Tragic.
