Electric White Zombie featured in May '07 Car and Driver

Batteries Included
In Oregon, the merry lunatic fringe builds a green screamer

The owner is a fixture on the EVDL. His car is probably the most famous "hobbyist" conversion out there.

Here's a teaser for the magazine article:

I think I'll be picking up a copy tomorrow!

John Wayland has built some wicked cars. I really want to see him take "Blue Meanie" to the track sometime.

WZ has a range of about 25 miles per charge at 50 mph on 30 Hawker Aerobatteries. 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds or so, and a top speed about 110. I would have got to ride in it summer of last year, but I wasn't able to make it to the meeting point near Chicago. Once the races at the Route 66 Raceway were cancelled, I had no idea where everyone was meeting at. By the time the site the info was posted on was updated, I only had about 2 hours to drive all the way to Chicago. I'd have had to average 150 mph to get there on time.

Oh well. I'll meet John some day...
