MetroMPG -

Looks gorgeous. Reminds me of a GM Impact.

Damn that's tempting. As long as the price is only a few grand for the body, and you pick your own donor vehicle, I'd be all over that. Eventually.

With this glider and a set of SAFT NiCds, 150-200 miles highway range and 90+ mph top speed in a sub $30,000 EV is possible. And that's in low volume.

Racing frame

I have been considering just getting a used racing chassis and go from there...eliminate most of the "stuff" that needs to be dumped...and should have good crash characteristics. Anyone read about someone doing this? I live in the middle of race country (just down the road from Lowe's Motor Speedway)...

I have thought about that too. That sort of makes sense, but then you gotta build all the creature comforts from nothing. Blinkers, dome lights, glove boxes, speedo, all that stuff that I would want in a daily driver. I think it's easier to start with a car that has all that stuff in it, and then start whittling it down to what is needed. A la the ForkenSwift and its ilk.

links?

Anyone have any good links for kit cars that have EV conversion in mind?

I am debating converting my 1991 190e 5-speed to EV or just do a purpose built ev.
