Awards for improper entry

I just realized a logic flaw with your "This user did this just now."

Apparently I just hit a record entry for entering my fuel numbers. What I did was enter my 3 receipts I had in my car out of order. So I entered the second oldest receipt first, then the one I made today, then the one I filled up a couple weeks ago. I shouldn't get "Top tank" awards if all I do is goof up data entry.

Might I suggest awarding things maybe 30 minutes after I post the last fill up?

Did the sidebar say "Pontiac had three best tanks today"? Otherwise, I'm not sure what the problem is.

Something similar to that, yes. It also said that my MPG hit 44 or so, which is about double what I'm getting.

After I entered all three receipts, my MPG went back to expected values, mind you.

Sounds like you're entering by odometer reading rather than trip meter reading. So when you entered the second oldest, it thought you got double the miles as you actually did (since the oldest fillup was missing). If going by odometer reading, this miscalculation is bound to happen. The site can't know that you forgot to record a fill-up.

Hmmm actually maybe the site could give a warning that the MPG calculated by a certain fill-up is more than X% above or below your average, and to check your numbers and confirm...

You're correct, as thats my take on it as well. I don't think that I should be blocked from entering the data, but maybe a confirmation stating "Hey, something doesn't seem right here...." and an option to check the numbers again. If I submit again, then the data is entered.

I just don't feel like I need to sort my receipts before I enter them.

As for the notification, or `award` I saw flash by, its going to be very difficult for me to see me hit a new record. {smirk} It'll take a lot of towing or pushing of the car, of which, I'd rather not do. heh
