First entry with half full tank

newby here i currently have a half a tank of gas and was wondering how i would go about entering my data for my first entry. I'm asking this because the half tank will last me another month. do i do a fill up and enter the ammount put in or the tank size as the the ammount of gas? or wait a month and enter the ammount put in tank.

A fuel up always starts with a full tank, and ends with a full tank, it's the only way to calculate the amount used accurately. I would drive to a pump and brim the tank, then reset your trip odometer, drive however far you want to drive, and fill up to the brim again. Then you'll know how much fuel you've used over what distance, that's your first fuel up.

As Draigflag says, fill up now, reset the trip counter if you want - enter the details into Fuelly, this becomes your starting point.

Next time you fill up - enter the details and Fuelly will be able to calculate your MPG.

You don't have to have an empty tank to fill up, but you do need to fill the tank each time, don't put half a tank in as this will give you inaccurate figures for the half filled tank (very high MPG) and the next full tank (very low MPG). It won't mess with your overall average, but it's best not to do it that way.
