Unhappy lost data

Hello all--I need help. I've been using Fuelly/aCar for nearly 7 years now. I recently upgraded to a new phone (Galaxy S7 from an S5) and although I was told that everything would transfer seamlessly, I lost all of my aCar data.

I back up my phone data to my SD card, and to my PC from time to time, and so I have data there (or at least I should have)--but I can't figure out how to restore any of it to aCar. For instance, I have this file:

com.zonewalker.acar-2.asec

But I can't find any corresponding file on my new phone (aCar is installed).

Any help in how to possibly recover my 6+ years of records would be greatly, greatly appreciated!

Thank you, -Rick

Copy the backup file from your computer to the zonewalker-acar folder in the phone's internal memory.

If you have trouble locating the folder, please send your backup file to support@fuelly.com and we'll get it loaded into your Fuelly account. Then you can sync the data to your new phone.

Question

Surely the app data is cloud-based?

i.e. when you add a fuel-up in the app, it's reflected on your online profile?

If this is the case, why would changing phones cause data loss?

Just wondering how it works.

In aCar, the Fuelly online backup is optional. aCar also creates internal backups that can be transferred from device to device.

To enable the backup to Fuelly, and account needs to be created and the data synced from aCar. After that, it will do so automatically.
