Problems with odometer MPG (Incorrect calculations)

Problems with odometer MPG (Incorrect calculations)

Hi

I've used Fuelly before for another car.
I've recently started to use it for my new car using the odometer setting.

So, I've filled up twice and to my calculations I should be at 45MPG or thereabouts. Yet Fuelly is saying 90+MPG.

You can see my profile here
http://www.fuelly.com/driver/skymera/micra

20th Nov I make my first fill of 14.82Litres @ 134.9/L with an odometer reading of 86,527. No MPG reading as expected.

23rd Nov I make another fill of just 7.42Litres @ 133.9/L with an odometer reading 86,676.

Which is 149miles for the 14.82L I filled up on the 20th.

So why is Fuelly calculating it to be 90+MPG?
It's as if Fuelly is calculating 149miles from 7.42Litres which is wrong.

Thanks, any help appreciated.

Did you get this one figured out? I'm looking at your vehicle now and I see 45.7 UK MPG. It sounds like that's what you were expecting to get.

He now has both refuellings entered as 14.82 litres.

From the description it sounds like the second refualling should have been entered as a partial (very close to £ 10 worth of fuel, my guess is that it was not filled up all the way).

>It's as if Fuelly is calculating 149miles from 7.42Litres which is wrong.

Why is that wrong? It's only wrong if it's a partial-fill.

86,676 - 86,527 = 149 miles

I managed to fiddle about with the fill ups and got the number I was looking for.

MMUK: I didn't get 149miles for 7.42litres.

I filled 14.82L, drove 149miles and then filled up 7.42L.

BUT looks as if I got my numbers slightly muddled up which doubled my MPG. Seems to be sorted now.

Cheers for replies anyway fellas.

Did you fill it up all the way to the top, or did you do a partial fill (e.g., putting in £10 worth)?

>MMUK: I didn't get 149miles for 7.42litres.

>I filled 14.82L, drove 149miles and then filled up 7.42L

But that is what fuelly will use to calculate your mpg. The amount you filled up (7.42L), and the distance you drive prior to filling up (149 miles).
