A lot of evidence is pointing to a lot of that stopping in 1998 to 2000. Additionally, warming in the early 90's can be attributed to the USSR's fall and the non reporting of temperatures from cold Siberian climate which changed the data's average.

There aren't "two sides", just 6.5 billion people growing exponentially.

The term "warming" is as misnomer.... Puh, it's only a few degrees - most humans can't tell the difference (we feel heat flow, not heat).

It's climate destabilization - think of the increased temperature as a symptom of said problem. Right now, relatively small inputs produce relatively small outputs. Eventually, however, we'll hit a threshold - and that won't be the case. The hardest part to deal with is that changes today don't cause results tomorrow - for both the "warming" side and the "solution" side. It takes decades to see change :/

Finally - the whole idea wasn't presented by a politician. It wasn't presented by an environmentalist. It wasn't even presented by some free love hippy. It was presented by mathematician well before he even had the tools to quantify it...

funny how certain evidence is golden, while other accredited evidence is squirrel poo. i understand the latest anti-GW research/study has mr GW himself "feeling the heat." pun intended. Mr. Incredible stated earlier that it is not worth arguing.

The arctic ice is certainly feeling the effects of global warming!

Most likely it will turn out there are two types of oil/coal generation.

(1) Biological formation : Takes millions / billions of years. Humans then burn all of it in a 100 or so years, releasing huge amounts of carbon dioxide (and it is know that, during the carboniferous period, temperatures were higher, and CO2 was also higher).

(2) Geological formation : When the earth condensed, it contained hydrocarbons. Over billions of years, these have formed oil deposits that were 'meant' to stay hidden. Humans find them (?have been finding them), and burn them over 100 or so years.

(1) and (2) both lead to global warming (we even took the hydrocarbons, put chlorine + fluorine on them and made CFCs, which have 1000s of times more global warming potential than CO2, and last 100+ years, and destroy the ozone layer while they are at it.

I think humans have a lot of responsibility for global warming. Whatever else is happening, we are making it worse (or maybe we are responsible for the changes full stop).

When the sea levels rise by 100m or so, then humanity will be in trouble. This will *probably* take ages though (mainly waiting for the antarctic to melt)... Although if the ice sheets were to actually slide into the sea, it could all happen in months / years.

let me try to understand the human caused GW phenomenon(view):

1)the polar caps never lost mass(melted) before mankind arrived?

2)natural pollution sources(volcanoes, natural fires, animals,etc) have little affect, at least compared to human contribution?

3)the earth has no natural cycles of warming and cooling?

4)other planets have an absence of GW?

5)ONLY scientists that support GW are experts in that particular field, the rest support big oil, turn from the truth, or are just plum nuts?

seriously, the opinion that most deserves consideration is the one that considers the opposing view. i'm not convinced either way, except to say pollution is the absolute binding truth of both sides.

Fact: it snowed TODAY in daytona beach, florida

Fact: earth avg temp has not risen in 10 years(since the record 1998?)

Fact: earth avg temp has not dropped the past three years

Fact: earth avg temp has risen steadily(before the recent down-turn) since the 17th century(well before the industial revolution)

manipulated facts(stats)? possibly, but too compelling to ignore. unless of course, one would follow the dumbmasses blindly on heresay or massaging of numbers of the inverse view.

time will tell. if this cooling trend continues, we'll know for sure. either way hopefully the world community will work towards what we know unequivocally to be the right thing to do:

reduce pollution NOW, and work towards eliminating it, however unlikely that may seem.
