Double check EPA FE ratings for your car.....

Been struggling to keep / get back my hypermiler status through winter.

Double checked my EPA fuel economy numbers and found out I had the wrong numbers in my garage entry.

I had the numbers for a 1.5l 5-speed CRX 34 / 39/ 36
I just updated with the correct numbers for my 1.5l Auto 30 / 37 / 33

I recommend all to double check their EPA ratings, it gave me a BIG bump in percent above EPA.

UfoTofU -

I have gone over mine many times, hoping that in California, the EPA estimate would be lower so that I could get a little jump in my EPA (California emissions requirements often result in lower EPA ratings).

Are you using the "Old School" or "New School" EPA figures? I am guessing old school by the numbers in your garage.

Not sure which ones I am using, I just went to www.fueleconomy.gov and looked up my year and model.

Are those considered old or new?

You probably just got the auto and manual transissions mixed up. My values are still 44/49/46.

Site is not working for me at the moment. I will check it out later and see if my numbers changed or not.

Read this thread for the scoop :

Comparing Old and New EPA MPG Estimates
http://www.gassavers.org/showthread.php?t=2821

If you go new school, you will see almost a doubling in your % over EPA.

I think that I will just stick with the old school then. Just felt kind of dumb for having put in the wrong ratings.

Hopefully be able to keep my hypermiler status through winter and then see a good jump come the warmer months.

Egg-zactly. It doesn't "feel" right to me to use the new numbers, but I am going to wait until there is a final decision on this. The main argument for using the new numbers is that the old numbers will not be available for people who join with 2008 cars. I can see this argument, but there is also something to be said for backwards compatibility, real world tests (your new number is extrapolated, it's not based on real data for your car), and finding a way to maintain *both* standards on this forum.
