I've been seeing quite a few vehicles around the Chicago area with magnetic boards on their doors. If I could qualify I'd try it out to see whether it's legit or not. it seems that their ads would earn someone $30 to $50 bucks per month (on door magnet adds), higher on larger ad signs.

LOL! I agree. who could read those signs while it's moving as well?

a couple of years back, there were some promotions of "free cars" if you agree to drive it while plastered with ads (whole car).

Yeah, this was a big thing a few years ago. They had a shrink-wrap vinyl system for applying whole-car ads. It seemed to work well for some people, but I suspect the advertisers decided it wasn't worth the money at that level.

I remember seeing these and wondering if they were in a similar program:

I think they were Isuzu Amigos, and that's Red Bull advertising. I haven't seen one in a couple years.

I'm nearly positive that every red bull car I've seen has been a Mini Cooper.

Same here and they are actually company cars. The reps in there go to companies trying to get them to sell the product. In San Antonio they had a couple hotties that'd drive around in it.

Yeah, google is returning a lot of Minis, but I clearly remember the Red Bull thing being a tiny SUV, either the Amigo or a Samauri. Thinking back, I remember a specific time I saw one and I realized it was more than a few years ago, more like 8 to 10 years ago, before the Mini was in the US.
