GS members' water craft poll...

Noticed in my time here that a few GS members have mentioned sailing & sailboats. Makes me wonder if the proportion of sail/human powered boaters in the group is higher than the general pop...

Anyway, figured a poll is in order!

Excuse me in advance for unintentionally excluding some poll options. I seem to do that...

We have 2 seadoos, an old 1970s tri-hull powerboat, and a kayak at the lake. I have yet to try out the newer 'high-powered' seadoo we got last year, but imagining anything faster than our first one kinda scares me.

I've got a couple of sailboats, windsurfers & a kayak. Too many to use, really, but the boaters I hang around have determined that the ideal number of watercraft to own is: 7. I'm working on it.

I crew on someone else's small (24ft) racing sailboat - race season starts in 2 weeks

I have a 19' Cape Dory Alberg Typhoon, two kayaks that I built, and one kayak that I bought. I love all of them. The Cape Dory is pretty quick, can take shallow water, is stable as a rock and handles like a dream. By towing one of the kayaks, I can get pretty close to some shallow areas like mangrove swamps, then kayak in to get a closer look at what little has been saved from human encroachment. One day I would like to travel in a larger catamaran or trimaran around the world.

There actually was a point where I did have the ideal number of boats back when I had a sunfish, a 21' Wellcraft (that thing could get up to around 60 mph, but burned so much gas), and another homemade kayak. This other kayak was wood framed with canvas stretched over it. Over time, it just disintegrated. The Wellcraft really belonged to my uncle who gave it to us when he was starting a business and had no time to care for it. We had that for a few years. The Sunfish I eventually sold.
