that 300zx is impressive.

My stepdad owns my old 87 civic Si hatchback that has 328,000 original miles. Car was owned by a honda mechanic before me that took great care of it. I bought it with 261,000 miles. He drives it 120 miles a day five days a week and it has never broken down on him. I am shocked that it keeps passing California smog every two years. It even has a/c that works good. I bought a VX but I miss that little car.

My '97 GMC Yukon has a little over 200k on it and it looks, runs, and drives like new. It's been an awesome truck, and considering the stuff I have done to it I can't believe it's still on the road! haha

2002 GMC Sierra 5.3 with the supposedly-weak 4L60E auto: 170,000 miles including towing/hauling/off-roading, only ever had trouble with wheel bearings and U-joints.
2008 VW Rabbit: 3500 miles.
1980 Buick LeSabre 4.0 V6: 36,000 miles and lots of rot from sitting unused. I've got to try to fix it up, it's such a sweet ride.

Of the 25 cars and trucks I've owned only one could have been considered 'new' with under 50k miles when I bought it. Many had over 100k when I bought them, some over 200k. Some were listed as "best buys", some as cars to avoid. I paid no heed to opinions of others regarding generalizations of some model, but paid very close attention to that specific vehicle I was considering buying.
Some were 'totaled' before they quit, but only one was still under 100k.
The highest miles when I sold them to the next owner were 282k+ for an 84 760, 278k+ for an 86 Golf diesel and 302k+ for a 96 Passat diesel.
There were a few of 'hers' that were bought showroom new and although titled and registered in my name, I am not considering them as 'mine' and have not counted them above.

Longevity? It comes down to maintenance, not manufacturer. My dad had two Chevy Vegas still on the original engines, no oil burning and over 200k on each when traded. A Tercel with over 300K when he gave it to my sister (my other siblings and I had to buy our first cars, the 'baby' of the family gets one given to her!).
