What is the car's VIN? If

What is the car's VIN? If it's pre 1500000, I think it won't have a synchromesh transmission, and if it's post 1500000, I think it will unless someone has upgraded it.

When you shift, do you find yourself double clutching or does it shift smoothly like your Civic? Synchronizers inside the transmission match the speed of the gear you're about to go into with the speed of the shaft to reduce grinding. Transmissions that lack synchronizers often crunch or grind if the car is not eased into gear or double clutched.

I'll get the VIN for you when I can get enough the strength to go out in the cold.

When I shift it is far from smooth, but it doesn't grind. These gear shifters are so akward and I doubt the linkage is in good shape after 30 years.
