Lightbulb Junkykard finds

How about a thread for junkyard finds that may be useful for other forum members?

I know we've got some Saturn owners here. I saw at least three 1990s Saturns with manual transmissions at the Millis Used Auto Parts self-serve yard in Millis, MA. Been to that yard twice and both times I was very happy with the prices.

Of course I'm always looking for stuff for my 1980 GM RWD full size car, so if you see late 1970s/early 1980s GM RWD cars in a yard somewhere, let me know...especially an early 1980s Buick LeSabre with good blue plastic/faux woodgrain dash parts.

Saturns in junkyards are like weeds in a field here in KY/OH/IN. My local yards typically have 8-10 S-Series in them. I was actually shipping parts all over the country for saturnfans.com members a few years back but that market dried up quick with the introduction of the Yaris/Fiesta/Cobalt XFE/etc.

I'll keep an eye out for LeSabre big body stuff!

If you need something look at the inventory at the pullapart in canton or Akron Ohio I'm there enough and pm me they don't hold onto stuff long. Couple of months. Tops. Prices are right usually.

Very cool that they have their inventory and prices so well listed. I might take you up on that if they show an appropriate donor in their inventory someday.

Not a problem the only complaint is that you don't know what's been pulled off the car but if your quick an it's not the hot part (a ls Acura motor) you got some time. Heck I got 3 13 in steel wheels with brand new tires for 17$ each. They were on a vw rabbit fit a civic. Sad #4 was missing. Let me know.

Yeah, I figured it'd be like that.

It really irritates me when I'm in the junkyard and there's a brand-new tire that's been destroyed by using it as a jack stand, and a bunch of bald tires that have not been used instead. I constantly see my sizes used that way.

Lately I've been more and more considerate of the unlikely potential future buyers of parts that I remove but am not buying, like dash panels I remove to get to something behind them...I'm being more and more careful to remove them gracefully.

No all the cars there are elevated on a set up of a rim flat on the ground and a rim welded to it. No jacks allowed. But yeah everyone destroys everything to gget at what they want.
