Lint

Why?
When cleaning the lint filter...
do my dry fingers slide right over the lint, while a dampened finger lifts the lint right off the screen?

The same reason there is a meniscus in your glass of water.

Coefficient of drag changes due to moisture?

I just use an older piece of lint to grab it.

That's how mine is. Do you all use anti-static dryer sheets? I wonder if that plays a role in it. I use them all the time and fabric softener on top of that. It's the only way I've found to reduce getting shocked every single time I get out of a car.

I just use my fingernail in one bottom corner to get it started coming off (it is thickest in the bottom corner)- then it all comes off in one big sheet.

If your dryer seems to not get your clothes dry, run it under the faucet - you'll rinse off the invisible dryer sheet residue - and it will pick up lint faster, and dry your clothes faster, too!
