Found an article confirming that Canada is full-blown banning incandescent light bulbs in homes by 2012:

Quote:
When they were first introduced to the market about five or six years ago, a single CFL light bulb cost about C$20.

Their price has now come down to about $2.50, which is still much higher than the 50 cents for a standard incandescent.
I remember them being REALLY expensive at first. Looks like technology is driving the price down .

Home Depot Canada says the sales of CFLs have grown to 350 per cent from 2004 to 2006.
My only question is how will my lava lamp work if incandescent bulbs are no longer sold at stores? I can just see rampant the light-bulb smuggling across the border

That is one of the things that helps sell my family (and me) on them. I can put in a brighter bulb, leave it on 24 hours a day, and still use less electricity than the incandescent I replaced. And with the time I save not having to replace bulbs so often, I can conduct classes on "turning off lights when leaving a room." :-)

I'm real bad for leaving lights on everywhere I go. I used to have a motion-sensor light switch in my room that shut off the light after 5 minutes or so, but it's kinda annoying if I'm not moving around much. They should make body-heat-sensing light switches .

Mmm-hmm. I'd put them in every room.
