The dark blue VX returns to craigslist

The VX I wanted to look at almost 3 weeks ago has mysteriously reappeared at the original seller with $400 tacked onto the original selling price of $1000. I called them again just to find out what is going on with this car. No answer, again. Last time, they sent me an email the next day stating it was sold.

So, what happened? Did the buyer "return" the vehicle to them for some reason? Or did they just not sell it?

Is this the "pump and dump" equivalent of used car sales?

I'll let you know.

Okay campers,

I got called about this car at lunchtime today. Drove 80 miles roundtrip to go see it. Wants $1400, I offered $1200. Waiting to see if they will take it.

The Good:

No rust on body - Michigan car for 16 years? Go figure.
Engine runs great - no tranny noise or other telltale noises.
Drove it at about 40 mph - suspension and brakes OK.

The Bad:

Cracked windshield - must be replaced or ticket city.

Four wire O2 sensor was installed. NO CEL. Don't know how they got around it. It might have been a California car when new? P07-L00?

No heat shield on the catalytic converter, no heat shield on the exhaust manifold either. One serious fuel leak and watch out mama.

Crack in front bumper cover, long horizontal crease in body on drivers side past the door under the rear window. Not too bad - could pop it out - maybe.

Hood does not line up properly - big gap on passenger side - from front end collision that tore the bumper cover?

One steel wheel with 3 VX wheels - nice.

The Ugly:

Huge holes in carpet on driver's side near pedals. Didn't use floor mats I guess.

Hatch missing one lift - found it by the spare tire, which itself wasn't held down properly. The hatch lift might not be easy to re-install.

Verdict:

Worth $1000 to $1200 - $1200 is stretching it but the most I'll offer in its present condition. I will ask them to give me the VX wheel off the other remaining VX they have.

Oh yeah almost forgot. This business bought four VX's brand new in 1993. They sold the first one two weeks ago. They are keeping one. I don't know where the fourth one is. They raised their price because they practically gave the first one away. If it was like this one? Maybe not.

No call - must have sold it for the $1400.

Good luck to the buyer - lots of work to do on that car!
