Well, they use a Fox news special to show their credibility... that's almost as good as a testimonial by the Alligator Boy or Bigfoot.

What is seafoam?

Hmmm.... thanks for the link.

Now if you had a 3rd hand Subaru with a questionable (non-existent probably) maintenance history would that be worth a shot?

sea foam works. its just a cleaner. i use it through the brake booster to clean out the intake manifold. it helps smooth the idle and give back 1/3 of a mpg.

with my wifes old car (92 mitsu. galant) half a bottle of sea foam saved it a trip to the mechanic to diagnose stalling and a bad idle.

Seafoam

Just do a search on Seafoam here...

I can attest that it significantly cleans-out the gunk and carbon from the engine's top-end. It's a yearly tradition to smoke-up the neighborhood with a good old-fashioned Seafoamin'

Also, my folks have a '93 Chevy Truck that overheated and cracked the rad. It wouldn't turn over, so it was figured to have a trashed engine. Upon recommendation of a certain family member Seafoam was dumped directly into the cylinders by removing the spark plugs.

After sitting for a few hours, the plugs were replaced and it started up and ran smoothly. The stuff works great as a maintenance item or to free up sticky engine parts. Using it to improve FE as an additive, has yet to be proven as statistically significant.

I'd do it, another good trick is slowly, as in very slowly, use water instead of seafoam to steam clean the head. Not as big of a smoke cloud but still effective

yea i would just empty a spray bottle at the throttle body as i opened it by hand. i never knew how well it worked though.... seafoam definitely worked by cleaning out the intake side of the head and manifold.
