2012 Suzuki TU 250X

Was trolling around craigslist and saw this ad, 4 hours old.

2012 Suzuki TU 250X 44 miles, had tank slapper drop, runs perfect, all needed repairs cosmetic, have replacement fuel tank to go with the bike.

A photo of the odometer showed the reading was 44 actual miles since new, 5 model years old, manufactured date, February 2012.

Called the seller, he bought a bike, then his wife bought this bike. At mile 34 she dropped the bike and told him she would never ride it again. Later they were divorced, bike sat in the garage for 4 years.

$1400!!!!!!!!!!!!

I told him I could not get the money out of my bank until Monday (it was Saturday). We agreed to meet at his work place. When he told me he was the head of security at the local nuclear power plant and he would bring the bike to his workplace, I was thrilled. Picked it up Monday without incident, everything precisely as expected.

Today I finished cleaning the bike and installed the replacement fuel tank. Tomorrow I register and tag the bike, get insurance, and a helmet from my brother in law (free).

I owned one of these bikes before. Single cylinder, classic japanes standard design from 40-50 years ago, but, fuel injected, oxygen sensor, catalytic converter. This thing is absolutely gorgeous now. Good for 80 mpg US give or take and the Mirage can be used for road trips with the bike for running around town.

Sticker price new with freight and assembly was right at $4700. I can't wait to ride again. Nibs not even worn off the tires. Works out to about $75 a mile depreciation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like an excellent deal. Congratulations. Maybe you can get it into the second spot in your signature and have a found vehicle again.

Rode it 35 miles today without issue. Inspection-$12. Title ,tags, tax- $115. Insurance $75 per year. Need to be easy on it until the break in period is over, about 500 miles.

635 miles now. Battery died so I replaced it, changed the oil and filter (got 6 filters for $15 including shipping), cleaned, adjusted and lubed the drive chain. Some Castrol 10-W40 part synthetic oil. About $10 per oil change every 3k miles.
I used a wire tie to tie my house key to the ignition key, then filed the side of the ignition key so it would remove the side cover screws, where I keep the registration, inspection and proof of insurance papers. No rattling that way.
