Re: Motorcycling 2011

Ahhh man, I wanted a yellow one so bad!!

How on earth does it need chain/sprocket at 7,800 miles??

Wanna part with the lower engine cover? Mine's MIA. Noticed you took the last one off of your silver 250.

Lack of lubrication I'll bet. Or, could it be? A Ninja 250 with 78,xxx miles? Could be a record.

Re: Motorcycling 2011

That's far from the record according to the folks on ninja250.org but yeah, i guess the previous owner cared more about his sweet pointless exhaust than he did keeping his chain clean/lubed.

Re: Motorcycling 2011

Lately I rode pretty much in slight frost (like -2-3C), but yesterday I met my limit. I went to Budapest and at the beginning of the way back the battery failed me I could only bump start Teresa with some help from a tourist and it's not as easy to do as it is with a 250cc twin. When I finally could leave I was soaking wet with sweat under my gear so the wind chilled me more than anytime before. Today I feel every bit of mine and probably have a light fever. I'll definitely take a nice hot bath when I finish work for today...

Average of this tank (3.1l/100km ~ 75.8mpgUS) became better than my other winter periods, though. lately I often drove slower than before because of the cold wind, and even though I couldn't shift into 5th this way (I'd need to go at least at 70km/h~45mph to do so) the lower aero drag more than makes up for the shorter gear ratio.

Re: Motorcycling 2011

Now that the salt has cleared up from the roads I've been able to do some riding the past few days.

Talking Re: Motorcycling 2011

Temp. was near the 70's today, though it was cloudy in the morning, the afternoon got much better. Roads are still covered with gravel and lots of melting snow cause water run-offs across the entertaining twisty roads.

First decent ride on my newly purchased Ninja 250.
The Legendary Longwood School

Picked up some lunch at the PIG OUT BBQ Pit, Pull pork sand.. yum..

Covered Bridge near Valley Forge

Signs of the covered bridge being repaired, but the nearby workbench was infested with carpenter bees, rare sighting in Feb:

Another covered bridge near the second oldest Waldorf school in the nation:

170 miles covered before 4PM.. not bad for a first day of riding in 2011.

Re: Motorcycling 2011

Today I found some black ice when my rear end started to get loose going up a hill...then a little while later I saw someone out on a motorcycle.

Re: Motorcycling 2011

I too am really ready for the non-frosty mornings to arrive. Having been down on the ice and having paid for the parts and time I'm money ahead just waiting until the better weather arrives. 9 month rider and proud of it.
