Question 1000 miles to a tank

I've been looking through the forum. And Ive seen 500-750 miles to a tank. But has anyone with any car, gone 1000 miles to a tank of gas? Not sure it's completely possible. I see alot of VX's using a 10 gallon tank, so they would have to get 100mpg. But anyways, has it been done by someone here?

In theory it is possible with a Prius or first gen Insight. People have gotten 100+ mpg in hypermiling competitions with them. Some drivers in Japan might have done an actual 1000 mile tank with the Prius.

I know that Prius and the Plug-in Prius does it easily. First Gen Insight could. But I was wondering if anyone on here has done it.

It's taken a lot of practice to get to this point. Having a good car and a good commute are critical. Also, a scangauge.

Re: 1000 miles to a tank

I have a scangauge. But I don't think my car will reach 1000miles. I'm shooting for 400 - 450 miles with no mods(expect for the scangauge),just to see if I can do it without them. Then i'll mod it somewhat and see what I can get.

Re: 1000 miles to a tank

My silver beast has a 35 gallon tank, and I regularly coax 22 mpg or so out of it at the 65 mph speed limit in hilly terrain here in New England. Someday, I'll take it to Kansas, and put the cruise control on 50.

It could get close to 1000 miles, assuming I can stand the Kanasas boredom.

Is that prism an automatic? That limits the possibilities. Also, my AC is broken.

It takes me a good 6+ weeks to reach 1000, 10 miles to work and 10 back home.
