New Polestar for 2019

Polestar/Volvo has announced its new Polestar 1 Hybrid, on display at the Geneva Motor Show. Looks amazing. I have never seen any point to a hybrid, but I can see the point in this.
It has a 338 bhp engine but the electrics bring that up to 592 bhp. However, it is the torque figure that is amazing. 1000 Nm (750 ft lb). Not cheap, at £115000, but what supercar is.

Has a certain Volvo P1800 look about it.

That is really cool. You can see shadows of the P1800 in it. That was a great looking car too.

I've seen a lot of coverage of the show, very heavy emphasis on electric powertrains. The Volvo is cool, but silly expensive, you really don't need to part with that kind of money for good performance.

I like hybrids that improve performance, if they are better on fuel too, then that's a bonus. Ideally, I'd like a plug in hot hatch, like a golf GTE but quicker, then you can use electric power just to tootle to work in, and then use combined engine/motor for going fast. Peugeot did this with a car like mine, 270 bhp engine, and 250 bhp motor that had over 500 bhp combined and did 97 MPG, but they've put it on the backburner sadly.
