Wink A GTO and a CRX

Hi there! I'm a new hypermiler-in-progress. I have a big, thirsty muscle car in my '05 GTO and a thrifty fuel-sipper CRX.
I'm a long-time autocross and high performance driver, and so far my FE experimental driving has been a lot of fun, and a noticeable savings!
My CRX does have a motor swap so my MPG was regularly in the 40s. I'll start logging to see how I was doing, and then try out some FE techniques.
I have noticed that FE driving takes the same sort of skill and concentration as high performance driving, and, in fact, several HP skills like cornering speed, maintaining speed and engine control, really play a good part in your fuel efficiency.
Anyway, I just wanted to say Hi and kick off my study of what kind of mileage I can get in my mean, heavy muscle car!

One of the things I enjoy about driving for FE is the fact that it keeps the mind active. What is that car going to do how will it effect me? So much is going on to do your best just as in racing you have to think ahead. Great thouht, never considered it like that before. I got to work on the development of your GTO it can get decent mileage for what it is depending on how it's driven.

LS2 6-speed. I've increased my warm-weather mileage from about 16 flat to almost 18 with the air on. It's a work in progress

The lead foot problem actually helps my mileage. If I do nice, easy, short-shifting starts my mileage will suffer by around 3.5mpg. Faster starts, shifting at about 4k 1-2-6 brings me back up to 17 or so.

The LS2 is supposed to be pretty fuel efficient... it really seems like you're getting well below par for mileage. I couldn't get that bad of gas mileage if I tried and I make as much power as you with just a hair under the displacement... I guess I just feel like you have room to improve.. I got 28 mpg for my commute last night.
