The 3.73 would be great for an around-town truck, do you do a lot of highway driving?

I don't know how Ford's 4th gear is, but my 3.73-equipped truck runs a pleasant and efficient ~2050rpm at 70mph. It locks the TC in 4th at 55mph.

Taller gears would work at 70 but for lower speeds my truck would lose FE.

To and from some of my fishing destinations YES there is often a fair bit of hwy driving. But then there is also a chunk of off roading at some point. Not always but often enough.

I can also keep an open mind if a differnt vehicle is a better suggestion.
BUT it needs to be able to tow a boat and trailer when needed, needs 4x4 and decent clearance for some of the locations. Needs to be able to haul 3-4 adults around and needs lots of space for rods, food and wet gear...
Oh and I can't go laying down major bling at the moment as we just bought a house last year and my wife is going on maternity leave in 3 weeks as our first is due mid Feb.

FordF150 ,
Vancouver... Island in the Pacific?
That's not an island....THIS is an island : Australia ( to borrow a well used and often abused line from Crocodile Dundee ).
Welcome to the place and I hope you enjoy your stay.

Cheers , Pete.
