Smile Hypermiler of 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse

Hi everybody! As the title says I have a 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse and I do hypermile. I bought the car when I was seventeen and was used to paying $20 in gas every two days (or $300 per month). This past tank was my first attempt at hypermiling and it lasted me for about two weeks, and after calculations I am going 27.4 miles per gallon. The estimated amount for my car is 18 city and up to 27 highway. I avoided highways for my entire tank, however.

My favorite move is coasting in neutral, but I also turn off my car at lights that will cause me to sit over 30 seconds, I will not idle in any other situation, and I also turn off the car right before I park, saving me a drop or two. I do other things and always look ahead of me to avoid certain gas guzzling things. My mother has a 2001 Ford Escape (my first car) and I hypermiled in that when I drove it. It has become a way of driving for me now; I don't even think about it anymore!

Well, hello to everyone and I hope I can learn some things and teach others some things while I'm here.

Are you saying I could get better? I do know I could, but I was getting 16-18 miles per gallon so I'm getting higher.

I suspect you can easily beat 30 in that car, and 35 if it's got a manual transmission. Keep working on it, and keep reading about various hypermiling techniques.
