New 1994 Honda VX (to me)

What a great forum!
After driving 100 miles a day for 5 years with a 2003 chevy s-10 and throwing a big portion of money into gas i finaly decided to get a small commuter car.
It took me 4 months of intense research.
I found a 1994 Civic VX with 100k miles on it and no rust for 2000 $ .
I spent 300$ for a nice tune up.
Unfortunatly it needs a new Cat and manifold that is being done now, 1100$ .
It will need soon new CV shafts , breaks, , tires and shoks.
It is all stock teal grean .
I knew that i would have to spend a few thousand extra to get it close to perfect.
I have high hopes for this car to stand up to his reputation.
I was drinving it to work and home before i started the repairs and was getting 40 -42 mpg.
I hope that it will improve, I am a carefull driver and try to keep in the low 2000 rpm's ,even if it does get to be a fun car when it gets those extra 4 valves pumpin!
I will let you all know how the mpg is after all the work.

Welcome. Lots of folks get great results with that car. Be sure to start a gaslog by entering your car in "The Garage" and entering each gas fill.

As for that manifold, I guess the previous owner didn't consult with mechanic kittah...

Congratulation on your purchase. I just bought a stock '94 VX for the same price. Mine doesn't have the mechanical issues of yours, but i do have body damage to repair. I'm looking forward to the project. I haven't put 100 miles on mine yet. Also looking forward to see what mpg i'm getting.

I want the teal VX! My '95 is red. I bought it rust-free for $1,350, but it had 194,000 miles on it. Contrats on your purchase.
